The aim of the study was to evaluate the relation between placental bed biopsy findings and fibronectin levels with the clinical severity of preeclampsia syndrome. Thirty-five women with preeclampsia/eclampsia were compared with 25 healthy women with uncomplicated pregnancies. Serum levels of fibronectin were measured by radial immundiffusion technic, Twenty-one placental bed biopsies from preeclamptic pregnancies were compared with 17 from normal pregnancies. Placental bed biopsies were taken at caesarean section. In preeclampsia/eclampsia, fibronectin levels were higher than in normal pregnancy. Normotensive women all had normal placental bed biopsy findings and the incidence of pathological bed biopsy findings increased with the severity...
