1 Tumour necrosis factor (TNF-alpha) is involved in the pathogenesis of splanchnic artery occlusion (SAO) shock. On the other hand, inhibition of TNF-alpha is an important component of the mechanism of action of melanocortins in reversing haemorrhagic shock.
