Censo y biometría de anidaciones solitarias de la tortuga Lora Lepidochelys olivacea (ESCHSCHOLTZ), en RVS Playa boca vieja, distrito de Remedios, provincia de Chiriquí, Panamá, de Agosto 2011 a Enero 2012.

The research was conducted in the Wildlife Refuge Playa Boca Vieja (RVSPBV) aiming to census solitary nesting olive ridley Lepidochelys olivacea, obtaining biometric data from females, nests and eggs, from August 2011 to January 2012 during which he found traces of about 60 turtles. To compile this information, the team realized night watches along the beach where twelve turtles nest were censued. While doing so, seven turtles were watched in the nestling process. This process determined the optima egg-laying time frames as wellas the most frequented nesting locations along the beach When a nesting turtle was located, each step of the nesting process was logged together with the time each interval lasted. After the nesting process was finished, the nesting turtle's length and width of its shell and tracks were measured as well as its weight. The nest was then measured for depth. In addition, the eggs were counted, weighted and measured to find the nest's average The olive ridley turtle that nests in RVSPBV measures an average width of 70.14 cm, length of 66.86 cm, track width of 68.14 cm and a weight of 38.24 kg. In October, a higher frequency of nesting with a totalof six nests with the majority of these nests being located in the high zone of the beach in sand without vegetation and a nest depth of 42.25 cm The nesting process has an average time of 46.7 minutes. The construction of the nest lasts an average of 15.89 minutes while the egg laying process lasts an average of 16.05 minutes according to the data collected. On average, each nest contained 99.25 eggs with an average weight of 32.15 grams and a diameter of 3.80 cm. The average hatching success rate was 93.53%.La investigación se realizó en el Refugio de Vida Silvestre Playa Boca Vieja (RVSPBV), con el objetivo de censar las anidaciones solitarias de la tortuga lora o golfina Lepidochelys olivacea, obteniéndose datos biométricos de hembras, nidos y huevos, desde Agosto 2011 a Enero 2012, periodo en donde se encontró rastros de aproximadamente 60 tortugas Para la recopilación de la información se realizaron recorridos nocturnos en donde se censaron doce nidos, de los cuales 7 tortugas se encontraron en proceso de anidación. Se determino los periodos óptimos de desove y área de la playa donde construyen el nido, las medidas del nido y los tiempos invertidos en cada etapa del proceso de anidación. De las tortugas localizadas en anidación, se obtuvo las inéditas de ancho y largo curvo del caparazón, ancho del rastro y peso. Ademas se determino la cantidad, el peso y diámetro promedio de huevos ovopositados La tortuga lora que anida en RVSPBV mide en promedio 70.14 cm de ancho, 66.86 cm de largo, 68.14 cm de ancho del rastro y un peso de 38.24 Kg En el mes de octubre se presentó una mayor frecuencia de anidación con un total de seis, siendo la mayoría de los nidos excavados en la zona alta de la playa, en la arena sin vegetación, con una profundidad total promedio de 42.25 cm El proceso de anidación duró en promedio 46.7 minutos, donde invirtió un mayor tiempo en la construcción del nido con un registro de 15.89 minutos y 16.05 minutos en la ovoposición. Depositaron en promedio 99.25 huevos, de los cuales se obtuvo un peso promedio de 32.15 g y un diámetro de 3.80 cm. EI porcentaje promedio de éxito de eclosión obtenido fue de 93.53 %
