ATE Impacts: South Central College

This video, from Internet Scout Research Group, features Annette Parker and is intended to accompany the 2022-2022 ATE Impacts book. This book showcases the important role that two-year community and technical colleges play in building the skilled technical workforce and provide evidence of the United States' critical economic need for technician education. The accompanying videos created in collaboration with Vox Television share the experiences of ATE alumni (students, administrators, educators, and industry partners) and the profound impact of ATE initiatives on their lives and careers. The book is available to view separately. In this video, South Central College President Annette Parker and instructor Doug Laven discuss the creation of a mechatronics program. Annette actively supported the idea of applying for an ATE grant in order to develop a mechatronics program. The resulting grant not only brought new technology to the college, but also fostered the development of a program that creates a path from high school, to college, to a career in mechatronics.This video runs 6:41 minutes in length.
