First and foremost, emphasis is placed on the influence of the composition of the material and of heat treatments on the elastic characteristics of a machine element; a study is then conducted on steel bars joined together by welding. Following a description of the procedures for the preparation of the test specimens, the experimental system used is then explained. Finally, the results of the tests performed are provided; these results are analysed and the elastic behaviour of the welded joints is interpreted based on the parameters considered
