This introductory article explains the coverage of this book, which is about developments in research on the topic of the self. This volume introduces the complexity of the concept (or plurality of concepts) of self and to the many different approaches to its (their) analysis. It presents analysis from various fields including analytic philosophy of mind, neuroscience, and postmodernism.
