We observe the propagation of 1D Airy beams through an unbiased photorefractive crystal. For ordinary polarization, the beam diffracts, while for extraordinary polarization it experiences nonlinearity through charge diffusion and has its diffraction suppressed. © 2009 Optical Society of America
