A goal of simulation-based training systems is the capability to measure user performance within the context of the training given. A system or application that is capable of recording individual data from multiple sources within a simulation must meet several requirements, such as real-time data availability, synchronization of multiple sources, network connectivity, and playback capability. This paper presents the Personal Area Logger (PAL), a service-oriented performance measurement architecture that is modular and flexible and meets the previously described requirements for performance measurement and data recording.
