Dogger Bank Expedition 2021: Cruise report: Biodiversity - Nature restoration – Marine science – Film

Dogger bank expeditionLocated in the North Sea, the Dogger Bank (also known as Doggersbank in Dutch, Doggerbanke in Danish and Doggerbank in German) is a shallow area on a sandbank in the Dutch North Sea, German, Danish and UK waters. It is a recognised area of ecological interest, due mainly to the high production and abundance of fish, cetaceans and seabirds in the area. The Dogger Bank has been designated as a protected nature area by the UK, the Netherlands and Germany. For many years there has been a desire among marine biologists, conservationists and filmmakers to undertake a joint expedition to the Dogger Bank in order to get more data from this important offshore area. This cruise report describes the joint expedition that took place 19-23 September 2021 and was led by Waardenburg Ecology, in collaboration with the World Wildlife Fund, Wageningen University and Research (WUR), Dutch Maritime Productions and ARK Natuurontwikkeling
