Introduction. Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis is a chronic disease characterized by progressive lung scarring that inhibits gas exchange. Evidence suggests fibroblast-matrix interactions are a prominent driver of disease. However, available preclinical models limit our ability to study these interactions.
