This article presents a discussion of multiple stress in Slovenian chronologically from the nineteenth century until today. It focuses on the relationship between multiple stress and derivation because linguists connect the number of stresses in a lexeme with the structure of the derived word or word-formation class. In addition to the dominant aspect of derivation, findings in metric phonology are presented, which introduce the rules for determining the number of primary stresses of each derived word.V prispevku je kronološko predstavljena obravnava večnaglasnic v slovenščini od 19. stoletja do danes.
