Formulation and Evaluation of Oral Fast Dissolving Nano Film of Telmisartan

The present study indicates a good potential of Oral Fast Dissolving Nano films containing Telmisartan for systemic delivery with an added advantage of circumventing the hepatic first pass metabolism and prolong the duration of its action. Efforts should be made to develop standard invitro method to characterize and compare different material and formulation in terms of their capability to promote drug absorption via the buccal route. The results of the study show that therapeutic levels of Telmisartan can be delivered through OFDNF formulation batch F11 show good, a convenient residence time and promising controlled drug release thus seems to be a potential candidate for the development of Oral Fast Dissolving Nano film for effective therapeutic use. The present study was a satisfactory attempt to develop Oral Fast Dissolving Nano Films, which will overcome the inherent drawbacks, associated with conventional drug delivery of Telmisartan and will have an improved bioavailability, therapeutic efficacy and better patient compliance. Formulations batches were evaluated for physical parameters, thickness, tensile strength, in-vitro drug release. The Oral Fast Dissolving Nano Films were evaluated for in-vitro drug release study for period of 5mins. The formulation batch F11 containing Crospovidone, PVA, PG, Mannitol, Citric acid, Sucrolase and tween 20 seems to be optimum from drug release rate 99.34%. • The stability studies were conducted on most promising formulation F11 under an accelerated storage condition of temperature and humidity, from stability studies no significant reduction in drug content, drug release were found over a period of 3 months
