In the present work, an investigation was made to use sodium alginate, methocel K100 LVCR polymer in the design and development of sustained release oral drug delivery systems. Calcium channel blocker was chosen as the model drug with the view of formulating sustained release matrix tablets to improve its bioavailability. 1. Drug-excipient compatibility studies were proved by using FTIR. 2. The sustained release matrix tablets of calcium channel blocker were formulated by wet granulation method. 3. The formulated tablets was evaluated for all the official test (as per USP39) 4.
