With all of the moisture that we have been getting, this has required more mowing and trimming than last year; certainly not a bad problem to have! The Milo Community Camp Out will be from July 3rd to July 5th at Enchant Municipal Park. While there will be no pancake breakfast or kids games this year, we hope that a great time will be had by all who attend. Plans regarding the summer bar­becue will be discussed at a meet­ing in July. Annual Milo Lions COMMVMITY CAMIOUT at Enchant Campground Two nights : Friday July 3rd and Saturday, July 4th, 2020 Unfortunately, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, pancake breakfast will not be served nor will there be games for the kids on Sunday. Campers will need enough food for all meals. While camping will be paid for by the Lions Club of Milo, those who attend are reminded to exercise caution through regular hand-washing and reasonable social distancing in accordance with provincial guidelines. Rev. Gordon Cranch Bev ripped out a page from her Catholic daily devotional and gave it to me for my writing idea file. It is of particular significance in light of recent developments in senior's residences and long term care facilities nation wide. Cast me not off in my old age; as my strength fails, forsake me not. Psalm 71:9 The psalmist has touched on one of the hot button topics which has surfaced in the midst of the pandemic. The Covid virus has swept through senior's homes, killing thousands of the elderly, the most defenseless of our population. Was this possibility not foreseen? Were proper procedures not put in place? Were the results of inquiries into seniors housing ignored? Did no one see that there was a tidal waves of baby boomers who were going to flood the seniors facilities? I think you know the answer to all those questions. Government after government, governments of all political stripes chose to defer action, rather than planning ahead to meet the oncoming crisis, and now the crisis has arrived. I think we can recognize that a vulnerable segment of our population has been shortchanged. A society is judged by how it treats its children and its old people. At least we can be assured that it is never God who forsakes us. In these times there are so many who are desperately trying to stay young. Growing old requires great patience. As I am growing older and was never noted for patience, it has been a struggle to deal with the fact that I cannot do what I once did - and that I need to accept that. But perhaps the need to move more slowly is a blessing - more time to stop and smell the roses. What glories of God's world do we now see in a new light when we know that one day, sooner than later, all of these glorious sights will be no more for us. O God of all ages, there is an old one in each of us that we need to cherish. Teach us to tend life in all our ages. Symptoms and testing Alberta has expanded testing to all Albertans, whether they have COVID-19 symptoms or not. Testing and Symptoms Any person who wants to be tested can now be tested, even if they don't have symptoms. Make sure you get tested if you have any COVID-19 symptom, including the minor symptoms like headache and fatigue. If you have any these symptoms you are legally required to isolate for at least 10 days from the start of your symptoms or until they resolve, whichever is longer: • Fever • Cough (new cough or worsening chronic cough) • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing (new or worsening) • Runny nose • Sore throat If you have any of these other symptoms, stay home and minimize your contact with others until your symptoms resolve: • Chills • Painful swallowing • Stuffy nose • Headache • Muscle or joint aches • Feeling unwell, fatigue or severe exhaustion • Gastrointestinal symptoms (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or unexplained loss of appetite) • Loss of sense of smell or taste • Conjunctivitis, commonly known as pink eye The following groups will continue to receive priority for testing: • any person exhibiting any symptom of COVID-19 • all close contacts of confirmed COVID-19 cases • all workers and/or residents at specific outbreak sites • all workers and residents at long-term care and level 4 supportive living facilities • all patients admitted to continuing care or transferred between continuing care and hospital settings Alberta has one of the highest testing rates in the world. Our testing approach will evolve as we learn more about the virus and testing technologies improve.
