This document reports on an action research study on video game addiction. The study aimed to explore the phenomenon of video game addiction in a group of students from a public university in Colombia, its causes, consequences and preventive methods through the evaluation of previous quantitative and qualitative research, interviews and surveys directed towards the one considered as the population most likely to suffer from this disorder, as well as psychological points of view about it. Thus, the need for more in-depth research and with different methodologies that allow understanding the phenomenon from points of view that are not limited only to the collection of statistical information is highlighted.
