Understanding how the perception of worker satisfaction can be influenced by union coverage would offer important elements for the design and implementation of labor welfare policies. This paper analyzes how unionization decisions in Colombia may affect employee satisfaction on various dimensions of well-being. For this study of the Colombian case, microdata from the 2015 Gran Encuesta Integrada de Hogares were used. The results are based on Linear Probability Models for job satisfaction functions, using a methodology that simultaneously controls for sample selection bias and the endogeneity of the union membership variable, based on an instrumental variables approach and two-stage estimators.
