Turismo científico: una alternativa sostenible para la bioeconomía en comunidades rurales Kichwas

This study analyzes the perception of scientific tourism (TCi) carried out by the Timburi Cocha Biological Station (EBTC) and its contribution to the conservation of natural and cultural heritage among the main actors involved in scientific research, forest conservation and community development. in the San José de Payamino Kichwa community, located in an area of ​​high biodiversity in the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve (RBS), Loreto canton, Ecuadorian Amazon. Interviews were conducted with key stakeholders interested in TCi's activities and with community leaders. The results showed that both the local community population and the key actors perceived that the activities carried out by the EBTC contributed to the empowerment of the community, especially through the recognition of their cultural and ancestral values. This supported the sustainable development and bioeconomy of the community, the EBTC contributed to the community an annual average of 5,000 dollars in the last eight years, in addition to other social and cultural benefits provided by the different activities carried out by the EBTC.Este estudio analiza la percepción del turismo científico (TCi) realizado la Estación Biológica Timburi Cocha (EBTC) y su contribución a la conservación del patrimonio natural y cultural entre los principales actores implicados en la investigación científica, la conservación de los bosques y el desarrollo comunitario en la comunidad kichwa San José de Payamino, localizada en una zona de alta biodiversidad en la Reserva de la Biosfera de Sumaco (RBS), cantón Loreto, Amazonia ecuatoriana. Se realizaron entrevistas a los actores claves interesados en las actividades de TCi y a los líderes de la comunidad. Los resultados mostraron que tanto la población local comunitaria como los actores claves percibieron que las actividades llevadas a cabo por la EBTC contribuyeron al empoderamiento de la comunidad, especialmente mediante el reconocimiento de sus valores culturales y ancestrales. Esto apoyó el desarrollo sostenible y la bioeconomía de la comunidad, la EBTC aportó a la comunidad un promedio anual de 5.000 dólares en los últimos ocho años, además de otros beneficios sociales y culturales proporcionados por las diferentes actividades llevadas a cabo por la EBTC
