As many would know, The Pink Palace, built by Noel Kratzmann, was bought by Sunland (developer behind Q1) and demolished a couple of years ago, with the site having since been redeveloped into the Shea Residences. While nothing of the Pink Palace itself was retained, the property's former Garden/Pool Pavilion was not only retained, but made a focal point of the new development. This wasn't any old Garden Pavilion mind you, but the central portion of the sandstone facade from the Administration Building (old Block B) at the Brisbane Central Technical College on George St (now QUT Gardens Point). While many of the historic Technical College Buildings still exist at the Garden's Point Campus and are heritage listed, the old Block B wasn't one of them, being demolished c1978. I don't know the exact details of how the central facade of B Block ended up at the Pink Palace, but I believe Noel Kratzmann took a shine to it and decided to acquire it.
