Antibacterial activity of methanolic and ethanolic extract of Eucalyptus globulus L. (eucalyptus) on Staphylococcus aureus strains ATCC N° 25923, in vitro

El objetivo del estudio fue determinar la actividad antibacteriana del extracto metanólico y etanólico de Eucalyptus globulus (Eucalipto) sobre cepas de Staphylococcus aureus ATCC N° 25923, in vitro. Se utilizó una muestra de 4 kg. de hojas de la especie vegetal y se preparó extractos etanólicos y metanólicos a partir de la maceración y se aplicó la técnica de difusión en pozo para determinar la actividad antibacteriana. El diámetro del halo de inhibición formado para el extracto metanólico de E. globulus al 100% y 50% fue de 27,58 + 0,30mm y halo de 23,46 + 0,53mm; el extracto etanólico de E. globulus al 100% y 50% fue de 20,51 + 0,42mm y 19,72 + 0,39mm, con respecto a los grupos control, para el negativo de metanol fue de 8,64mm, de etanol fue de 8,64 + 0,34mm y para el control positivo fue de 43,64 + 0,48mm.
