El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo demostrar el efecto antibacteriano in vitro del extracto etanólico de Carica papaya (papaya) sobre Escherichia coli. El extracto se obtuvo por maceración y se aplicó el método de difusión en pozo para determinar el efecto antibacteriano. los resultados mostraron que el extracto etanólico de Carica papaya al 50% obtuvo halo de inhibición promedio de 10,28; al 100% obtuvo halo de inhibición de 13,78; el control negativo obtuvo halo de inhibición promedio de 6,11 y el control positivo (Ciprofloxacino) fue de 30,09.
