This letter, dated June 20, 1956, from the Solicitor of the Department of the Interior J. Reuel Armstrong to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs comments on the Three Affiliated Tribes Tribal Council elections and absentee voting. Armstrong directs the Commissioner to the Solicitor\u27s June 8 opinion on absentee voting in which he indicated support for it. Regarding the question of whether the Secretary of the Interior may call an election for tribal council, Armstrong indicates that the tribal constitution does not allow for the Secretary of the Interior to call for an election.
