This paper is a piece of a research that presents the principal documents (educational policies) and bibliographic references that guided the production of a project, composed of an Investigative Teaching Sequence (ITS), with interdisciplinary and contextualized activities for the promotion of Environmental Education (EE), about water resources. The project was developed with upper secondary students from a public school, in Rio Grande do Sul. The study in question drew on the analysis of the potential of the ITS, based on current curricular policies for upper secondary education.
