The Child-study program of the Evans-Heath Elementary Schools, year 1944-1945, Corpus Christi, Texas

The Child-Study Program as now in operation in the public schools of Corpus Christi is a product of an earnest desire on the part of the Administration to provide the best of educational opportunities and the environment for every child entering its schools. It appeared logical that the most direct method of improving these opportunities for the children would be that of providing means by which teachers might grow in their knowledge and understanding of children and their problems. The importance of an in-service training program for the teachers has long been recognized in Corpus Christi. Since the advent of World War II, it has been doubly necessary that teachers be given opportunities for professional growth while in service
