A teoria da hegemonia de Ernesto Laclau e a análise política brasileira

The article has two main goals. First, it presents the most recent development of the notion of hegemony in Ernesto Laclau’s political thought. Second, it tries to demonstrate the heuristic potential of this notion in political analysis, particularly of Brazilian politics. At the end the article discusses the explanatory potential of the notion of hegemony for two political moments of Brazil’s recent history: the “Diretas já” movement (1984) and the electoral victory, the illness and death of Tancredo Neves (1985). Key words: hegemony, discourse theory, Brazilian politics.O presente trabalho apresenta dois objetivos centrais. Por um lado, visa apresentar o desenvolvimento mais recente da noção de hegemonia no pensamento político de Ernesto Laclau. Por outro lado, objetiva demonstrar seu potencial heurístico para a análise de política, sobretudo no âmbito da política brasileira. Nesse sentido, no final do artigo, apresentaremos as potencialidades explicativas da noção de hegemonia em dois momentos políticos da história recente brasileira: o movimento das “diretas já” (1984) e a eleição e posterior comoção nacional em torno da morte de Tancredo Neves (1985).
