A qualidade conjugal e os elementos do amor: um estudo correlacional

This study aimed to investigate the relationship between marital quality- in this study, the satisfaction and sociodemographic variables - and Sternberg’s elements of love. 102 subjects participated in the study, 52 male and 50 female subjects from the capital and the countryside of Rio Grande do Sul. We used the Sternberg’s Triangular Love Scale (ETAS) - Reduced Version and the Marital Satisfaction Scale - The Golombok Rust Inventory of Marital State (GRIMS). Our results indicated that marital satisfaction was heterogeneously evaluated by the sample, being decision/commitment the most preponderant element. The three components of love - Intimacy, Passion, Decision/Commitment - and the education level were correlated with marital satisfaction, demonstrating an interesting interactional frame of couples in this sample. Our data indicate a tendency for this sample to a greater appreciation of satisfaction and decision/commitment at the expense of intimacy and passion.Key words: love, interpersonal relationship, marital quality.Este estudo objetivou investigar as relações entre a qualidade conjugal, avaliada, neste estudo, pela satisfação e por variáveis sóciodemográficas, e os elementos do amor de Sternberg. Participaram 102 sujeitos, sendo 52 do sexo masculino e 50 do sexo feminino da capital e do interior do Rio Grande do Sul. Utilizou-se a Escala Triangular do Amor de Sternberg (ETAS) – Versão Reduzida e a Escala de Satisfação Conjugal – The Golombok Rust Inventory of Marital State (GRIMS). Nossos resultados indicaram que os sujeitos avaliaram sua satisfação conjugal de forma bastante heterogênea, e o componente decisão/compromisso surgiu como o mais preponderante. Os três componentes do amor, Intimidade, Paixão e Decisão/Compromisso, e a escolaridade dos sujeitos mostraram-se correlacionados à satisfação conjugal, perfilando um interessante panorama nas interações dos casais desta amostra. Identifica-se uma tendência dos sujeitos estudados a valorizar sua relação quando se sentem satisfeitos e comprometidos, porém, há carência de intimidade e paixão.Palavras-chave: amor, relacionamento interpessoal, qualidade conjugal
