Crescimento e concentração da produção agrícola no Rio Grande do Sul de 1970 a 1996

This paper shows the regional growth resulting from the main agricultural products produced in Rio Grande do Sul between 1970 and 1996. The analysis is based on regional units and aims at pointing out the regions that showed the higher income growth rates caused by these products, the main products responsible for this growth, the spatial concentration of production and its link with growth rates. The paper presents as the main result the spatial concentration of the regional growth on the basis of the agricultural sector.Key words: Agricultural production; regional development; location indicators.Este trabalho apresenta o crescimento regional decorrente dos principais produtos agrícolas produzidos no Rio Grande do Sul, entre 1970 e 1996. A análise é feita a partir de unidades regionais e visa a evidenciar as regiões que apresentaram maiores taxas de crescimentoda renda gerada por esses produtos, os principais produtos responsáveis por esse crescimento, a concentração espacial da produção e seu vínculo com as taxas de crescimento.
