For the past two seasons a survey of the diseases caused by the bean yellow mosaic virus in Western Australia has been carried out with a view to assessing their economic importance. This article is intended to give information on the symptoms and occurrence of these diseases on the more important hosts in Western Australia. Consideration has been given to control aspects, but in the present state of our knowledge, no reliable recommendations can be made. Of the various disorders occurring in dahlias, a group of diseases caused by viruses can be responsible for considerable damage to this otherwise attractive garden plant.
