This article analyses the experiences and perceptions of care workers in long-term care services (retirement homes, home-care-services and personal assistance) during the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, we focus on material and relational dimensions of care explaining how they have been modified and even extended and re-signified. Our empirical evidence is based on qualitative research carried out through semi-directed interviews with female workers in Andalusia, Aragon, Catalonia, Madrid, Murcia and the Basque Country. The results show that cleanliness, corporeality and the relational dimension have gained special relevance; moreover, protection and security appear as new aspects that amplify the concept of care.
