Geomorfossítios: a singularidade do patrimônio abiótico do Geoparque Caminhos dos Cânions do Sul, Sul do Brasil

The diversity of the landscape and, therefore, of the geomorphological features is certainly what makes the territory covered by the Caminhos dos Cânions do Sul Geopark, RS/SC (GCCS) unique. Marked by the strong compartmentalization of the landscape by the presence of a large escarpment, it encompasses different geomorphological units whose characteristic features constitute geomorphosites of local and international relevance. Geomorphosites in this territory have values such as aesthetic, ecological, historical-cultural and mainly scientific. The aim of this paper is to characterize the sites of geomorphological interest in the Caminhos dos Cânions do Sul Geopark (RS/SC), based on the inventory made for its implementation. There are 30 official geosites in the GCCS and those whose relevant content is the geomorphological nature were selected. They were grouped into four categories of geomorphosites: (i) canyons, (ii) waterfalls, (iii) witness hills and (iv) coastal and marine. Recognising the value of these geomorphosites will certainly expand the bases for the definition of geotourism strategies, as well as stimulate the geoconservation and the promotion of the geoheritage.A diversidade da paisagem e, por conseguinte, das feições geomorfológicas, certamente é o que torna único o território abrangido pelo Geoparque Caminhos dos Cânions do Sul - RS/SC (GCCS). Marcado pela forte compartimentação da paisagem pela presença de uma grande escarpa, o território do GCCS engloba diferentes unidades geomorfológicas cujas formas características constituem geomorfossítios de relevância local a internacional. Os geomorfossítios desse território apresentam valores como estético, ecológico, histórico-cultural e, principalmente, científicos. O objetivo do presente trabalho é caracterizar os sítios de interesse geomorfológico no Geoparque Caminhos dos Cânions do Sul (RS/SC), tendo como base o inventário realizado para sua implementação. Dentre os 30 geossítios oficiais do GCCS, foram selecionados aqueles cujo conteúdo relevante é de natureza geomorfológica. Estes foram agrupados em quatro categorias: (i) cânions, (ii) cachoeiras, (iii) morros testemunhos e (iv) costeiros e marinhos. Reconhecer os valores desses geomorfossítios certamente irá ampliar as bases para a definição de estratégias de geoturismo, assim como fomentará a geoconservação e a promoção do geopatrimônio
