KONSEP WALÄ€YAH MENURUT IBNU ‘AJĪBAH (Studi atas Kitab Al-Baḥr Al-MadÄ«d fÄ« TafsÄ«r Al-Qur'Än Al-MajÄ«d)

This paper discusses the concept of walᾱyah according to Ibn ‘Ajibah in his work al-Baḥr al-Madīd fī Tafsīr al-Qur’ᾱn al-Majīd with analytical descriptive method. Al-Baḥr al-Madīd is a mystical exegesis by a Moroccan scholar, one of the countries in al-Maghrib al-‘Arabi regions. This study finds that Ibn ‘Ajibah divides the concept of walᾱyah into walᾱyah ‘ᾱmmah and walᾱyah khᾱṣṣah. The process of a murīd or sᾱlik obtaining walᾱyah requires the existence of mulᾱzamᾱt al-syaikh to reach the maqᾱmᾱt at level of guardianship. In some of his commentaries, Ibn ‘Ajibah also reveals karᾱmah and things beyond reason that are obtained by someone who reached the level of saint through the stories of some godly personalities that he know. Related to the concept of ’iṣ}mah, Ibn ‘Ajibah leans to equate the prophet and guardian as a chosen person, protected and guarded (ma’ṣūm) by God. But in terms of acceptance revelation, Ibn ‘Ajibah did not completely equate the propet and guardian with distinguish the type of revelation received that the prophet received revelation legislation while guardians get inspiration revelation
