The notion of experience in Mead’s philosophy is closely connected with the idea that knowledge involves social interactions and interpretative processes, so that it is fallible as well as improvable. There are only basic immediate data coming from the external world but experience enables us to form a belief corresponding to reality and to verify it through our interactions with others and the physical facts. Language is a symbolic process that constitutes the individual self as the outcome of the subjects’ relations with other selves.
