Epidemiological studies suggest associations between diabetes mellitus (DM) andbladder cancer. Several potential mechanisms may explain the increased bladdercancer burden in DM patients. Hyperglycaemia is associated with dysregulation of cellintracellular metabolism and alterations of lipoprotein metabolism and oxidative stress. Dysfunctional HDL including glycated and oxidized HDL are described in DM. Weevaluated the effect of normal HDL (N-HDL) and glycated HDL (G-HDL) on cellproliferation and oxidative stress of J82 bladder cancer cells.
