Extensive reading nowadays is believed to be more effective in teaching ESL/EFL. With its characteristics such as reading for pleasure, reading a lot, easy and interesting reading, extensive reading has been an approach for teaching reading besides intensive reading. English Education Department of the Universitas Muria Kudus has put extensive reading as a subject in the curriculum. Some extensive reading programs are also established to introduce extensive reading. Yet, it seems that students’ awareness in reading does not apparently improve.
