This paper explains how to introduce an energy consumption control system and how this system can improve the energy efficiency of a manufacturing plant by allowing the organization to identify – often inexpensive - actions for improvement. The paper presents a methodology based on the deduction of system behavior by analyzing historical data on energy consumption and related factors through regression analysis. The proposed methodology is shown by means of a case study in a pharmaceutical plant, but it is applicable in many industrial sectors
