A two years (2003-2005) fungal environmental surveillance was carried out in three departments of a hospital in Campania (Italy): Surgery, Obstetrics and ICU (Intensive Care Unit). A total of 12.120 surface and 2.904 air sample were collected. Air contamination was higher than surface contamination, with prevalence ranging from 12% to 71% of air samples, with higher findings in ICU, dirign spring and summer months. Air quality monitoring and control practices should be applied
