ANALISIS SURVIVAL STRATEGY PEDAGANG KAKI LIMA PASAR SUNDAY MORNING PURWOKERTO PADA MASA PANDEMI COVID-19

The covid-19 pandemic has a big impact on the Indonesian economy. The policy of restricting social activities due to the covid-19 pandemic has narrowed the space for economic movement and resulted in almost a halt in economic activity. Indonesian workers who, on average, work in the informal sector such as street vendors (PKL) are not all able to survive the covid-19 pandemic. One of them is a street vendor (PKL) in Purwokerto's Sunday Morning Market. However, there are still 60% of street vendors (PKL) who can survive. This study aims to determine the survival strategy carried out by street vendors (PKL) at Purwokerto Sunday Morning Market during the covid-19 pandemic. However, there are still 60% of street vendors (PKL) who can still survive. The research method used is a qualitative research method which is presented descriptively. Sources of data used are primary data and secondary data with data collection techniques through interviews, observation, documentation, and triangulation. This study uses Suharto's theory which states that survival strategy is a person's ability to apply a set of ways to overcome problems that complement his life. Suharto said that there are three kinds of survival strategies, namely active strategies, passive strategies, and network strategies. This study concludes that street vendors (PKL) in the Sunday Morning Market Purwokerto use (1) active strategies, namely optimizing all their potential such as selling food products that are in demand, selling products that are booming during the covid-19 pandemic, and become a freelancer. (2) Passive strategy, namely reducing family expenses and minimizing the fulfillment of secondary needs, as well as training themselves to carry out fasting Monday and Thursday. (3) Network strategy, namely looking for new markets or networks by opening stalls online and traveling around looking for new markets.
