This book describes how the concept of rationality has evolved in the last decades. Since the early seventies, several experimental studies on reasoning have produced evidence that human people diverge significantly from the classical normative standards of rationality, such as deductive logic, standard probability theory and expected utility theory, failing to solve apparently simple reasoning tasks. There have been many controversies on what such experimental results on reasoning indicate about human rationality, giving rise to what has been called \u201cthe rationality debate\u201d.
