The Acute Scrotum

Clinical history and physical examination do not always allow a firm differential among the different possible cause of acute scrotum, and imaging is needed to provide a diagnosis. Differentiating torsion from infection is a clinical emergency. Inflammatory conditions of the scrotum are the most frequent cause of acute scrotal pain in the adult population.
