According to the probabilistic seismic hazard analysis (PSHA) approach, the deter- ministically evaluated or historically defined largest credible earthquakes (often referred to as Maximum Credible Earthquakes, MCEs) are \u201can unconvincing possi- bility\u201d and are treated as \u201clikely impossibilities\u201d within individual seismic zones.
