Concentrazioni di Acido Citrico e di Fruttosio nel Plasma Seminale e Caratteristiche Seminologiche dello Stallone

Functional or pathological conditions could affect the male sexual glands secrete composition and, consequently, influencesome seminal characteristics. For this reason, the authors evaluated citric acid and fructose seminal concentrations on semencollected from 32 stallions (4 ejaculates for each subject). On the same semen samples, sperm concentration and motilitywas also evaluated by IVOS (Integrated Visual Optical System). Citric acid levels were significantly (p<0.05) lower (29.8vs 36.8 and 41.6 mg/dl) while fructose levels were higher (7.8 vs 4.1 and 4.9 mg/dl) in stallions with normal semen characteristics(concentration > 200 x 106/ml, total motility > 60%) compared to asthenospermic (concentration > 200 x 106/ml, totalmotility < 60%) and oligoasthenospermic (concentration < 200 x 106, total motility < 60%) stallions.[...
