An ethnobotanical research has been conducted in West Azerbaijan (Iran) for identifying the useful plants that are known and used in that area for medicinal purposes. This region has an old tradition of herbal healing and a high degree of knowledge of natural remedies; a total of 80 species have been documented through interviews with village elders, traditional doctors and herbalists, for some of which botanical name, vernacular name, locality of collection, medicinal uses and most common preparations are reported. © 2018 Società Botanica Italiana onlus
