Between 1804 and 1806 was developed the Jacquard loom, which takes its name from the French inventor Joseph Marie Jacquard. The special feature of this machine is the use of punch cards that organize the weaving of patterns and textures on the fabrics being automatically read from the frame, replacing the traditional paper design or commissioning interpreted by the weaver. While the operation of the traditional frame requires the simultaneous presence of several operators, a weaver flanked by one or two assistants, which activate the device for the formation of the step, with the new system is sufficient a single person, even when he is not replaced by a appropriate automation.
