Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains the most common cause for excess morbidity and mortality in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) and end stage renal disease (ESRD) under chronic dialysis. ESRD patients have increased oxidative stress and endothelial dysfunction alongside increased levels of inflammation related proteins, which has prompted the exploration of anti-inflammatory and antioxidant treatments to improve outcomes.
