Fujitsuka Chikashi’s The Understanding of Korean Confucianism

In this paper，I will examine the Significance and Limitation of Shinchō bunka tōden no kenkyū. Fujitsuka Chikashi（1879-1948， the author， who was a professor of Chinese philosophy in Keijō Imperial University started research on the interaction between Korean scholars and Chinese scholars in the 18-19th century. He especially focused on the Joseon Confucian scholar， Kim Jeong-hui（1786-1856）, and had earned his Ph.D. degree in humanities at Tokyo Imperial University with his dissertation about Kim Jeong-hui. This book is a pioneering work on 18-19C’s academic interaction in East Asia. Nevertheless， it also has colonial limitations and a lack of understanding of Korean Confucianism
