This paper analyzes a series of documents on theatrical activity in the Iberian Peninsula (notarial deeds, brotherhood account books, manuscripts and dramatic prints, etc.) that identify the years from 1574 to 1584 as a transcendental decade for the history of the Hispanic theatre. Indeed, in those years, thanks to the arrival of the first Italian company of professional actors and the incorporation of poets and humanists in the theatrical market, the formula of the so-called Comedia Nueva was born, as well as the physiognomy of the playhouse (corrales, casas and patios de comedias) set up and a new model for running theatre companies. The Hispanic theatre would later be successfully exported to the rest of Europe and the Americas
