The research presented in this PhD thesis aims to increase the understanding of the effect of controlled transverse plane acoustic standing fields on the atomization process in a relatively dense atmosphere providing experimental data and developing acoustic analytical models for the acoustic radiation pressure and the acoustic radiation force. This research contributes to the research strategy on combustion instabilities in liquid rocket engines (LRE) in the frame of CNES Liquid Propulsion R&D program. For the experiments, coaxial air/water jets were injected in a pressurized parallelepiped cavity where a high amplitude transverse acoustic standing field at a frequency around1kHz is forced internally by four loudspeakers.
