Cette recherche monographique de bâtiment porte sur l'hôpital Beaujon de Clichy, inauguré en 1935 (Urbain Cassan-Louis Plousey architectes et Jean Walter, architecte-entrepreneur). Premier hôpital de grande hauteur en Europe, cette « Machine à guérir » frappe par son équilibre entre les influences internationales issues de l'américanisme et le rationalisme de la culture constructive française. Cet ensemble hospitalier est par ailleurs le reflet des approches hygiénistes, fonctionnalistes et de l'esthétique Art déco de l'entre-deux-guerres. Il puise également sa force dans la volonté des concepteurs de construire un espace propice au bien-être et à la guérison.
