Children's literature from a gender perspective: Astrid Lindgren's work

Interes za primjenu teorije roda na različite književne vrste postoji već neko vrijeme, a interes za proučavanje dječje književnosti iz rodne perspektive pojavio se u skladu s time. Uzevši opus Astrid Lindgren kao gotovo najutjecajnije švedske spisateljice za djecu i bazu teorijskih tekstova koji se bave konkretno njenim opusom, nastojala sam organizirati kratki pregled analiza rodnih uloga u dječjoj književnosti. Kvantitativne i kvalitativne analize autorica pridonijele su konkretnom govoru o stereotipnim karakteristikima glavnih i sporednih likova, a komentari iz pedagoške perspektive obrazložili su motivaciju i važnost da se na kurikulumima aktivno radi. Pedagoška analiza dodatno je objasnila i na koje sve načine puki opisi u književnim djelima mogu utjecati na mentalni razvoj djeteta u smislu razvoja percepcije vlastitog okruženja te uloga u kojima se svi kao pojedinci na različitim razinama nalazimo kroz život.Interest in applying gender theory to different literary genres has existed for some time and interest in studying children's literature from a gender perspective has emerged accordingly. Taking Astrid Lindgren's work as one of the most influential Swedish children's writer and a database of theoretical texts dealing specifically with her work, I tried to organize a short overview of analyses of gender roles in children's literature. Quantitative and qualitative analyses of the authors contributed to the specific discussion about the stereotypical characteristics of the main and minor characters, and comments from a pedagogical perspective explained the motivation and the importance of actively working on curricula. The pedagogical analysis additionally explained the ways in which mere descriptions in literary works can influence the mental development of a child in terms of the development of the perception of one's own environment and the roles in which we as individuals find ourselves on different levels throughout our lives
