The Influence of Personality type to Learning Style (The evaluation of Learning Style of Student’s Leader in Surabaya)

The purpose of this study was to identify corelation between personality and learning styles that complement the learning preferences of student’s leaders from 78 secondary high schools in Surabaya. Each young leaders age between 13-15 years old were the representatitive of 1000-1200 students in their schools. The objectives of the study were to 1). Identify most dominant of preferences learning styles of the student’s leaders 2). To identify the correlation between personality types and preference learning styles. Jung’s Four Personality Dimensions and VAK learning style concept, were tested using independence testing and multinomial logistic regression. The four dimensions of personality types were 1). Extraversion-Intorversion, 2). Sensing-Intuition, 3). Thinking-Feeling, 4). Judging-Perceiving, whilst VAK concept consists of visual learner, auditory and kinaesthetic learners. The result show most dominant learning style was kinaesthetic, and there were no significant relationship between 1, 2, 3 dimension of personality and learning styles. However, there is a significant relationship betwen Judging-Perceiving type of personality and learning styles. Judging’s type of student’s leaders prefer kinaesthetic learning style and Perceiving’s type of student leaders prefer visual learning style. Keyword: personality, learning style, studen
