Rad tematizira čovjeka analizirajući suodnos njegove osjetilne i razumske naravi kroz pisanu ostavštinu Tome Akvinskoga. Cilj ovoga rada je analizirati na koji način strasti oblikuju čovjeka i njegovo životno djelovanje. U prvom dijelu rada opisani su procesi kako osjetilne, tako i razumske ljudske spoznaje. Elaboraciju spoznaje prati analiza ljudske osjetilne i razumske težnje koje su, s obzirom na objekt, bitno povezane sa spoznajom jer je ona preduvjet za težnju. Središnji dio rada bavi se temom strasti te obuhvaća definiciju strasti, moralnost strasti te opis poretka požudnih i gnjevljivih, ali i pojedinačnih strasti u Tominoj misli. Na osobit način pažnja je posvećena ljubavi, mržnji, požudi, užitku, boli, nadi, očaju, strahu, smjelost...
